What I Haven't Done...

*Put up the Christmas tree (will cut it and set it up this weekend, decorate it closer to Christmas)

*Christmas shopping--haven't been in a store to purchase a single gift...

*Baking--guess I have a few more days for this one!

*Finish knitting--I'm still working on a birthday present!

*Interior/exterior decorating--we have our mantle decked for the "creche" and the Advent wreath, but no other decorations.

*Christmas Day menu--will work on that this week.

*Laundry (particularly blankets to give to Fr. L for the homeless)--I'm still trying to catch up since the "snow days!"

Am I stressed? A little...trying to keep my focus on that empty space in the center of the Advent Wreath. I'm trying to be that empty space, clean out the clutter inside. It's not always easy, but I am hopeful, trusting that our dear Lord will help me out with this one.

What I have done:

*Attended Mass Saturday, Sunday and Monday--it's been quite a while since I've been able to get in more than one Mass per week...

*Watched two great "oldies"--It's A Wonderful Life (for the hundred-eleventy-seventh time) and The Scarlet Pimpernel (the really old one with Leslie Howard)

*Had dinner with good friends...

*Thanked God (repeatedly) for the answer to a prayer...

*Nearly finished St. Lucy's Crown (where on earth did I put the white felt?!)--pictures later!

I hope you are being "blessed and not stressed" during the "big wait." May God continue to lift you up, my friends. May you maintain hope and good cheer!

Dear Kimberly: I wrote you a nice, long, thoughtful, spontaneous post that was somehow lost when I tried to send it due to an error on my part. So, I guess for whatever reason it was not meant to be. Nevertheless I will still say that even though we have never met I already feel as if you are one of my oldest and dearest friends and then tonite when I read your post I had to check to make sure you hadn't secretly gotten personal information regarding my very life as it seemed your thoughts had been stolen from the pages of MY prayer journal!! We are very different in many ways-I am 31 w/ 4 children, a homeschooling mom, trying to make my own way in a sea of friends who ALL attend (and are content with) the Novus Ordo Mass. I began attending TLM about 5 years ago after a low point in my life where I was not feeling fed. I had lost a baby, I was almost 5 months along and then my grandfather passed away....It was February and things seemed so bleak, but I found my niche in TLM and while I go to a very reverent NO Mass when I have to (we are not blessed here in CA with a LM close by) my heart is at TLM with Our Lord so beautifully present in the Blessed Sacrament. So I guess that is why I feel so close to you, you are a woman after my own heart. I guess when two people share a love for the same vital things it is easy to see how we are ONE in the Body of Christ. Distance separates, but love for Our Lord, His Blessed Mother and His Church unites and I so appreciate all of your words of wisdom. Please keep blogging forever....Well, I know you can't really do that, but I just devour your beautiful posts, thoughts, pictures, what a lovely family you are!! I found you a while back from a link at the Remnant (my favorite newspaper)it was an article about the UN and I had my oldest son read it.He proceeded to fall in love with the adorable, tiny baby being held in such large hands. Anyway, I won't take up any more of your time, but God bless you and keep you. More "blessings" than "stressings" during this holy season of Advent.
Love in Christ,
Regan

Dearest Regan:

What a beautiful person you are! And what a great gift "cyberspace" can be, when hearts are united across such physical distance! God bless you for the encouragement you have so lovingly given me. I wrote that post late last night, had a really awful night's sleep and awoke rather discouraged myself. Having exhorted others to good cheer, I felt a bit cheerless. What a blessing kind words are...for you have cheered me. Not by your praise (I truly deserve none) but by your loving revelation of your very self. We are not so very different. A little more than a decade separates us by age, and thousands of miles by geography, but the Spirit works past all of those obstacles.

So, sister in Christ, may you be blessed today as you have blessed me. I'm ever so happy to make the acquaintance of a friend. Deo gratias!

What a lovely blog, Kimberly!

Finding your site brightened my day. I absolutely love the Leslie Howard version of the Scarlet Pimpernell! I wonder if they even sell it on DVD...Do they?

Anyway, your blog is totally inspirational. Have a Merry Christmas!

Dearest Kimberly,
I was so glad you responded to my email. You are such a sweetie!!!I hope we can be great friends.

I wanted you to know you inspired me to take some time to relax with my little one.Friday night I had much laundry to do, but I put a few logs on the fire, popped White Christmas in and watched it with my daughter while the laundry washed away...

God bless you and Happy Gaudete Sunday....Our Infant Jesus was dressed in the most beautiful pink gown today, He looked so regal.

Love in Christ,
Regan
